Three Reasons Why I Won’t Follow You On Twitter.

I’ve never focused much attention to the Twitter game, as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and to a lesser extent Pinterest, keeps me VERY busy. And with the positive elements I’m now seeing with google+, I’ve started to shift my attention slightly towards building that social connection.

Of all the social media platforms I engage in, it seems clear that twitter is the one which you really must live “in the now”! With the blink of an eye, something can be relevant and in that same moment it becomes insignificant! If you have a large following or follow a lot of people, you’ll know exactly what I mean. In this quest to stay current (keep up with the speed of twitter), I have some rules on who I follow and who don’t.

Here are three types of Twitter people I will not follow;

1. The EGG! If you cannot take the time to update your profile with an image of yourself, why should I follow you? Nothing SCREAMS spam louder than that  egg. If you’re trying to be anonymous, why even bother with twitter? Do NOT replace the egg with a picture of a celebrity or half naked woman.. we’re on to you. Use a genuine pic of yourself and try to keep it a head shot. You can get creative with the header and background if you wish.

2. You Tweet TOO MUCH! If when looking at your profile I see that you have thousands of tweets.. no thanks! I don’t need to know EVERY minute of your life. I’m looking for some sort of substance (yea I know it’s twitter) to keep me engaged and interested.

3. Your Tweets are NOT YOURS! If your tweets looks as if a cyborg crafted them.. I will not follow you! I want to hear your voice. I could care less about quotes or anything which seems automated. Especially when there are links within them. Speaking about links.. if your main goal is to sell a product and all you do is shove links to that product down our face. Yea.. I’m not following you! I didn’t come on Twitter for more advertising.
