How To Make Coconut Milk.
Coconut milk is used heavily in cooking in the Caribbean, Central America, the South Pacific and in Asia and with the influx of immigrants from these areas in North America, it’s common to find it being sold in cans at your favorite grocery chain. They are indeed convenient to use, but have you ever looked at the ingredients listed on those cans?
Knowing how easy it is to make your own coconut milk, I thought I’d share this video with you:
Basically all you have to do is crack open a dried coconut (it will have a hard brown shell), remove the white flesh, then place that with a bit of water in your food processor. Then squeeze out out that lovely coconut milk. Tip: Be sure to shake the dried coconut before buying to ensure there’s liquid (clear) when broken. This means the dried coconut is still fresh.
Now you can add freshly made coconut milk with no preservatives to your next drink, curry, stew or soup.
Great show, I really do enjoy watching you cook
