Build Your Own Caesar @ 1858 Caesar Bar, Collingwood Ontario.

As part of our #Gallivanting video series on YouTube, we get to experience some unique things. In this case we had the opportunity to test out the “build your own Caesar” as 1858 Caesar Bar in Collingwood Ontario.

We had originally went to 1858 Caesar Bar back in November of 2018, but as we got there that chilly Sunday afternoon they we just closing up for the day. Basically we never got a chance to give their Caesar drinks a test drive. Luckily we were back at Blue Mountain for the weekend earlier in July (2019) so we took this opportunity to finally check out the spot our friend Sid recommended we try.

As usual, I’ll point out some of the highlights of this experience and directly below that you may watch the full #Gallivanting video to get the full experience of our visit.

Here’s what to expect at 1858 Caesar Bar…

  • extremely friendly (greeted with a smile) and knowledgeable staff
  • a wide assortment of pre-set options to try (so you don’t have to build your own)
  • pre-set Caesar options can still be customized
  • “Build Your Own’ comes with a huge assortment of options
  • “Build Your Own” can be a bit confusing at first
  • “Build Your Own” allows for exciting creativity
  • establishment is very clean and we observed staff continuously cleaning after patrons
  • the upper floor can get a bit muggy (hot) on a hot summer’s day
  • you place your order at the main bar area and it’s then delivered to your table
  • the bar overlooking the street is a great spot to enjoy your Caesar and people watch
  • while there is a small outdoor patio area, it was too hot for us to take advantage of during our visit
  • the Caesar (presentation) is Instagram worthy
  • can get crowded quickly as the space is somewhat small
  • can be a bit pricey (depending on the options you choose), however there are “cheaper” options as well
  • to be honest, I found the Caesar a bit too tart for my liking and I wished I had asked for it to be more spicy. The texture of the shrimp in my option felt like it was boiled and sitting in water too long, giving them a not-so-fresh feel.

Thanks 1858 Caesar bar. We do encourage you engage the staff as they are awesome and willing to walk you though the process of building your customized Caesar (I did mention above that it can be a bit intimidating) and since the Caesar you build will be captivating, be prepared to have others in the bar stare (we did as you can see in the video below).
