St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub (Budget Skin Care).
The sad reality is that most men do NOT take care of their skin, especially their face and even when we do, we usually reach for the cheapest products on the shelves at the local Walmart. I’m guilty as charged! For many years my skin care routine involved using the same body wash bar soap on my face while I was in the shower. However you’ll see the evolution of this in upcoming posts.
Let’s take a look at the St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub in today’s review.
As I mentioned in the Wilkinson Sword Shaving Brush And Shaving Bowl I have very sensitive skin, which means I cannot shave without first taking a hot shower. The hot water acts as a pre-softener for the somewhat course hairs and makes shaving much more bearable for me. If I were to shave cold.. it would be disastrous for me (bloody, painful and severe reactions after).. Unless! I find that if I were to use the St Ives Apricot Scrub and then shave (even without a hot shower) I’d be in good shape. The scrub exfoliates, raises the hairs off the skin and softens the course hairs for a shave with less irritation during and after the shave.
The apricot infused scrub itself is quite refreshing and leaves your face feeling smooth, tight and invigorated. Though I may be beyond the age of pimples (adult acne), there’s still the odd times I do break out and it seems from regular use I’ve not had any episodes lately. Please bear in mind that it is a “scrub”, so it can be harsh, so be gentle when applying and try your best to NEVER get it in your eyes (I learned from that mistake). Being oil free and being blessed with oily skin, this was also a plus for me.
Overall a 2.5 out of 5 for me as one must give serious consideration to the fact that we didn’t break the bank to secure this product and as an exfoliant.. it did it’s job.
