Cranberry Mango Pineapple Chutney The Ultimate Thankgsgiving Sauce.
I’m an island boy at heart, so I really don’t subscribe to the turkey thing (give me chicken and/or ham). However I call Canada my home and my daughters are born and bred Canadians (but they’d try to convince you that they’re Trinbagonians) so when Thanksgiving time rolls around, they’ve come to expect that perfectly roasted bird (poor birdie) on the table. Every year I try to play around with the menu, which usually means trying different things with the turkey. This year however I’m doing plain turkey, but I thought I be creative with the cranberry sauce, so I thought I’d add some Caribbean sunshine on this years Thanksgiving table with this… Cranberry Mango Pineapple Chutney!
Note: If you don’t have access to mango and/or pineapple, you can use apples with similar results.
You’ll Need…
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar
3 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup ripe mango (diced)
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 cup pineapple (diced)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
2 cloves (or 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves)
* You can also use frozen cranberries. Replace fresh ginger with ginger powder if you like, and canned pineapple can be used instead of fresh pineapple.
In a medium saucepan combine the water and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. Add the orange juice, cranberries, mango, pineapple, cider vinegar, grate in the ginger and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes stirring often.
That’s it!
This cranberry mango pineapple chutney can be made days in advanced (as I did) and stored in a glass container in the fridge. It can last for a couple weeks if needed and be sure to use it with not only thanksgiving turkey, but with oven roasted chicken and it also makes a great topping (like a relish) on sandwiches. With a bit more sugar, this could easily be turned into a jam.

I will definitely make this for our Thanksgiving Dinner in the USA in November, thanks.
We loved it!. My mom said this was better than my usual homemade cranberry sauce. Love the combination of flavors. Thanks for sharing with us.
I used sorrel instead of cranberry which is available at this time of the year in Trinidad.
Fantastic.
