Aveeno Active Naturals Hydrating Body Wash Review.

Aveeno Active Naturals Body Wash (2)

Due to my (and my girls) sensitive skin, over the winter months when we have the forced air heat on in the house to cope with the bitter temperatures we’re blessed with in Ontario Canada, dry skin is a REAL problem for us. Though we have a humidifier installed within the heating system and slapping on body lotion is a a daily chore.. dry, cracked and overall painful skin is part of our life.

Aveeno Active Naturals Body Wash (3)In all honesty, ‘winter’ starts as early as late September and we don’t get a recognizable break until late April when the daffodils and tulips show their glorious faces. In the meantime we’re left looking for ways to keep our skin and body moisturized and hydrated to prevent looking like the banks of a scorched riverbank or the cracked sides of a coniferous tree.

I love variety, but there are times when we have too much of a selection, which ends up being more of a hassle than a good thing when you just want to roll through Walmart and not deal with the other shoppers. It honestly took me over 15 minutes to finally decided on the Aveeno Active Naturals Hydrating Body Wash. Besides Aveeno, there were several other brands with many options of their own as well. At the end I wish I had a cup of coffee beans to clear my sense of scent – you know what I mean! We all open the bottles to take a whiff of each option available. Add a paper towel to that as well, as I always tend to have some remnants on my hands (and tip of my nose). Same for when buying lotions and shampoo.

Aveeno Active Naturals Hydrating Body Wash Review.

Positives:

  • No “tight” feeling once you’re out of the shower and dry
  • Skin felt smooth and soft
  • Lathers quite nicely with a loofa
  • You don’t need much on a loofa
  • Scent of the shea butter and fig is quite calming
  • Washes off quick (once lathered)
  • No ‘weird’ film on my skin
  • Relatively cheap – under $7

Negatives:

  • LOVE the scent, but it reminded me of baked goods and I came out the shower wanting to ‘snack’ Reminded me of those fruity scented crayons we had as a kid – the kind that you just wanted to eat.
  • Does not lather well (or feel soapy) when used on a pouf (the sort of plastic body wash type)
  • You have to use double if you don’t use a loofa

After using the Aveeno Active Naturals Hydrating Body Wash with fig + shea butter for a solid 2 weeks I didn’t see any noticeable difference on my skin from when I was using another body wash. I may have expected more knowing it’s an Aveeno product (we use their lotions). There wasn’t any reactions, luv the scent, the overall soft skin feeling, calming effect in the shower and budget price, means I’ll give it a 3.5 out of 5.
