Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser (Budget Skin Care).

Fresh off our look at the St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub I thought it would be a good time to shift focus from a scrub to an actual wash, which is mild enough to be part of your daily skin care routine. I accidentally came across the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser (not in a good way) as I would see black soap marks in the main family bathroom every morning. Being the designated bathroom cleaner, it was very annoying having to reach for the Windex or bleach spray just about every day to clean things up. So my introduction to this charcoal cleanser was not very positive!

Seems my girls used this as their nightly face wash (not sure they still do as I now have full range of use) so the marks I would encounter in the sink every morning was from their use the night before. That is the one pet peeve I have about this wash.. you MUST wash it all off the sink or you will be reminded by black soap marks as the water dries (and it becomes very hard and stuck on).

According to the Bioré info on this product:

  • Draw out and trap 2x more dirt and impurities than a basic cleanser with this innovative black cleanser that foams white and rinses clean. Infused with Japanese Skin Purifying Technology, this facial cleanser gives you results after just one use!
  • Oil-Free
  • Dermatologist Tested
  • Gentle enough for everyday use

Since I’m now the lone user of the Biore deep pore cleanser, it’s made a permanent home in the shower where it’s become part of my Start-The-Day routine. A small pump lathers well (on a moist face from my hot shower) and best applied with your hands. I did try using a face cloth, but I find it becomes overly harsh. If you apply heavily it will take some effort to wash off and chances are you will have the same problem of soap remnants to wash off from your sink or tub as in my previous experience.

HOW TO USE: For optimal results use daily. Wet face. Pump cleanser into hands, gently work into a foam. Massage over entire face. Rinse thoroughly.

I’m blessed with oily skin, which just so happens to be a magnet for black heads and with this product being oil free and supposedly deep cleansing.. I’m hopeful. I haven’t really given it a long enough test to see much difference with my blackheads, but I can tell you that my face no longer looks like as oil spill. And one of the main reasons it’s part of my morning routine it because you get an invigorating, tingly (almost icy) feeling on your face a few seconds after you wash and rinse. Quite refreshing!

Keeping in mind that it’s a budget friendly product and that I’ve not given it a ‘true’ test-drive, I‘ll give the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser a 2.5 out of 5. This is not based on my displeasure for the product as I’m still testing the “blackhead” aspect of things. I’ll say that I’m very pleased with the soft, icy and tight feeling I get from use and I’ve not experienced any sort of breakouts or skin conditions from its use to date.

BTW, if you work in greasy conditions as I do – in the kitchen and under bright lights when I’m filming , you’ll look forward to using this cleanser after work just to freshen up.
